Low Back Pain: An Epidemic in America

The cause of back pain is often complicated and a combination of more than one issue. Ligament sprains, muscle strains, bulged or herniated discs, irritated, inflamed, and restricted joint movement can all contribute to the cause of low back pain.  Often times, our life style habits such as poor posture, arthritis, smoking, obesity, and psychological stress can all cause or exacerbate back pain.  Additionally, back pain can also be caused as a direct result from disease of the internal organs such as kidney stones and/or infections, blood clots, bone loss, reproductive organ dysfunction, and gallbladder disease.

FACT

  • Low back pain is the single leading cause of disability worldwide. (Global Burden of Disease 2010)

  • Nearly one-half of all working Americans admit to having back pain symptoms each year and it is the the most common reason for missed days of work.

  • Most cases of back pain are mechanical- meaning it is not caused by serious conditions like inflammatory arthritis, infection, fracture, or cancer.

  • Americans spends at least $50 billion each year on back pain

You do not have to endure the headaches anymore! Chiropractic has been shown to provide relief for tension and migraine headaches and cervicogenic headaches (headaches that are due to structural and muscle imbalance in the neck).

The doctors at Skraitz Chiropractic will perform a thorough chiropractic, neurologic, and radiographic evaluation to determine the cause of your headaches. Once the cause has been determined, an individualized treatment plan will be developed to reduce both the intensity and frequency of your headache compliants. Additionally, our doctors may discuss nutritional advice and lifestyle habits that may need to be altered in order to maximize long term relief.
